PLEASE DOWNLOAD and listen at your convenience. Kevin Sampson is a Writer, Producer and Director and he's taken that experience and applied it to his primary role as a film critic. He also runs an entertainment website, hosts a podcast and a film review TV show. As if that wasn't enough he launched a PR firm called "Picture Lock" to help independent filmmakers, with a focus on filmmakers of color. Like you would expect, he has chosen a wide variety of scores ranging from the 1950's to present day. Some will be familiar and others won't be but you're sure to enjoy it all. A fascinating discussion on all things film plus some great music make this an episode not to be missed.

Frank R., great question that you plucked a valuable answer from Kevin on purpose of a score: just for visuals or to augment character development. Kevin also gave a great description how Elfman’s slow and ominous main title to Batman (89) syncs well with Burton’s “I am going to take you on a journey” with stone Batman logo. He and Dr. Funnell linked a scene to what a soundtrack does. Herrmann’s Vertigo “Scene D’Amour” superlative!
